Building Permit Application Requirements

Please note: You must make an appointment with the Building Inspector/Zoning Administrator Department as it has no set hours. Call 608-254-2558 option 2 or email the Building Inspector / Zoning Administrator Department to schedule an appointment.

There is a 2.9% + $0.30 service fee charged by Stripe to pay online.

Other forms of payment accepted are cash or check at the Village Clerk-Treasurer's office located at 50 Wisconsin Dells Parkway South.

Regular Board Meetings

• 2nd Monday of the month; 2 pm.
• Supporting Staff Documents are due by 4:30 pm the Wednesday prior to the meeting. 
• Residents/Developers: Agenda items requiring a committee meeting will follow the guidelines below for Committee Meetings.

Committee Meetings

• 4th Monday of the month with meetings called as needed. Meetings times will be determined by number of meetings required.
• Supporting Staff Documents are due by 4:30 pm the Wednesday prior to the meeting. Residents/Developers: Confirm with our staff the required deadline (typically 12 to 15 days prior to the required meeting). Special projects requiring public hearing notices (i.e. Conditional Use Permits, etc.) typically have earlier deadlines of 20 to 30 days depending on ordinance requirements. Please confirm the appropriate deadline requirements with the Zoning Department (permits) or clerk-treasurer's office (licensing).

Commercial Building, Additions, and Alterations Plan Review

ALL PLANS SHOULD BE SUBMITTED TO THE VILLAGE FOR PRELIMINARY DEVELOPMENT REVIEW PRIOR TO SEEKING ANY OTHER APPROVALS TO EXPEDITE THE PROCESS.

All Commercial plans should first be submitted to the Zoning Administrator to determine if the application can be approved administratively or if it needs to be approved by the Village Board after Plan Commission review. This is an important step to help you establish a potential timeline for your project.  Most commercial projects require village and state (DSPS) approvals.

The Village of Lake Delton has been delegated commercial plan review by DSPS (for commercial buildings and commercial plumbing code enforcement). The Village has contracted with E-Plan Exam to conduct these plan reviews on our behalf. Any building requiring state plan review for building, HVAC, or plumbing may be submitted to the E-Plan Exam Commercial Plan Submission Portal. Reviews and approvals are typically completed within two (2) weeks of submittal once the application and all revisions are completed. Approval by DSPS is not an approval by the Village for Zoning purposes.

Conditional Use Permit

If necessary, you can apply for a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) here. A non-refundable $450 fee must be submitted with the CUP application online at the time of submittal. 

Development Review Applications

If you are planning to start a development project, please submit a Preliminary Development Review Application. The cost for this application is $250.00 and is due at the time of submittal.

When the preliminary development review application has been approved and you are approved to move forward in the process, you will be required to submit a Final Development Review Application. The cost for this application is $500.00 and is due at the time of submittal.
